Dog Boarding and Training

Jonathan is a god! I am so happy I found him on google. My husband and I really needed help with our 90 lb Golden Retriever (Sora). Sora is a very friendly, lover boy but he had horrible leash manners as well as not obeying or becoming a hand full when greeting people or other dogs. I've been dragged into the street and on coming traffic too many times and I was at the end of my rope. I told my husband we absolutely NEED to get some help! That's when I went to google and did some searching for dog trainers. They offer a free evaluation and the price for the 3 week training is unbeatable!" Every other training site I went to, the two week programs were over $2,500.. We set up our free evaluation and immediately we wanted to sign our dog up. So we set the date and dropped him off with a binder of info and a bag of dog food. In those three weeks we kept in touch with Jonathan, getting updates on his progress with some pictures. Once the three weeks were up we excitedly went to pick up our pup. The difference was amazing! Jonathan showed us how to control our dog on and off leash, I wanted to cry tears of joy. Sora is still very much the same dog who loves people but the difference is now he isn't dragging me towards distractions. He actually listens and behaves amazingly on and off leash. I'm no longer afraid to take my dog for a walk. If anyone is second guessing dog training, I highly recommend reaching out to Jonathan. They are amazing and worth every penny. I am now a long time customer. They know my dog and I can trust them to fully take care of his needs. This has been one of best experiences when it comes to dog training. I really only have good things to say. Thank you Jonathan.

Boarding And Training

Nobody wants a reactive fur baby, so if you have 1, there's hope! Read my review: We have a 1.5 yr old rescue named Rocky (maybe a ridgeback or a blackmouth) that's scared of pretty much everything. I have socialized him, took him everywhere I went when he was a pup but as time passed by, he became more and more aggressive towards people and a whole lot of little things. I have searched for training programs in the past and received many hesitations due to his behavior. Taking trips has also been difficult as finding someone to board him is close to impossible as it takes him awhile to open up; and unlike other dogs, Rocky doesn't want attention which a lot of people don't understand. I stumbled on and met with Jonathan for an evaluation and he treated Rocky like any other dog he's trained. Jonathan took charge! He wasn't intimidated but understood exactly what's going on.. and I absolutely appreciated that. He explained to us the possibilities instead of guaranteeing us a big change. But in some way, knowing that there's hope was enough. We enrolled Rocky to the 2-week train/board program. (Do note that they use a E-collar for training, and even though some frown upon it, it's something dogs like mine need). We dropped off a crazy dog who barks at everything and after 2 weeks, picked up a dog who can now be taken out to public (with limitations of course). Jonathan taught us how to take charge and do proper corrections that will get our dog's attention. I love that he can tell what's going on just by Rocky's demeanor and body language. We just had our 1st follow up and Jonathan helped us with stressors that generates Rocky's reactiveness now that he's home. Jonathan also gave us tips which are super helpful! We are genuinely grateful to Jonathan for helping us. He's very easy to communicate with and overall just a great person who loves dogs and great at what he does. SN: He even worked

Dog Training

My husband and I left my 1.5 year old mini Aussie Shepard with Jonathan for the 2 week board and train program. It was the best decision ever!! Bailey was a different dog once we picked her up. We had problems with her barking at other people and dogs when we would walk her. Now she doesn't pull on the leash nor bark at others. He uses lots of positive reinforcement which I liked. He also includes 4 follow-up training sessions. The prices for his training are a steal!! We had gone to another very popular training program in San Antonio and they were double the price for half the time of training. You won't regret your decision of going to Jonathan for dog training.

REMOTE COLLAR

REMOTE COLLAR

At SLC Dog Co. the use of a remote collar as part of a balanced training program it is an integral part of our success in providing reliable, high level results. We know that remote collars are safe and humane training tools and that they provide dog owners peace of mind in having improved control while allowing their dogs off leash freedom. We also understand the necessity for users to become educated about remote collar conditioning and how to implement the tool with a balanced approach. Great training employs many tools including food, toys, treats, play, praise and intrinsic rewards. We believe knowledge is empowering. Our goal is to empower clients in understanding how their dog learns and the choices they make about their dog’s welfare is the foundation of everything we do.Because we feel so strongly about the need for education, we encourage dog owners seeking to purchase a remote collar to also find a knowledgeable trainer to guide them in how to use it. We have a variety of programs to choose from and they each include the best choice collar for your dog as well as a complete lesson package to learn how to use it!

An “e-collar” is basically a collar with a stimulation mechanism. It is similar to receiving E-Stim therapy at your local chiropractor. Remote collars act like an invisible leash and give owners the ability to communicate with their dog in a consistent manner. The way you apply pressure on a leash when walking and changing direction. We condition the e-collar in such a way that it is as if you are physically communicating with your dog with distance not being a factor. This means that if you are hiking and you notice your dog is getting too far or happens to see deer and want to chase it you have a way to communicate with them despite their utter excitement of deer or distraction of smells.
When we condition an e-collar to your dog we condition it with the word "no." When we say "No" this means to stop the current behavior and look to us to follow the cue given after whether it was because they broke a sit stay or start to pull on the leash instead of being in a heel command. Our goal is to have your dog understand that when they feel the stim of the e-collar their immediate response is to look to whoever is handing them to wait for further instruction. This is to help you communicate with your dog and not for punishment.

They stay in Jonathan's private residence during the duration of their stay. We’re located in day Break. We accept very few dogs at a time! This allows for your dog to enjoy their time in a calm, clean, and orderly home. We believe that this more natural and intimate setting is optimal for learning and minimizing the stress of a typical high-volume training facility. Comfort and safety come first!

Is there a guarantee that I will get the results I want?
We've never met a dog we could not improve. However, dog training is a team effort. No matter how severe the issues may be, dedicated and diligent owners consistently see amazing breakthroughs and transformations with Training and Home Management. The key to that system is a process of collaboration and teamwork that begins before we meet your dog and continues through the training process. Once you hire us your success is our top priority, but your dog can't achieve full potential without you, and there will be homework. Even though we can help any dog regardless of size, breed, or issue, we need owners to be 100% committed and consistent to make it work. As such, it would be unethical for us to offer a 100% guarantee due to the many variables involved to create a well-behaved and balanced dog.

Yes, we happily offer free training evaluations! These are the perfect opportunity to meet and work with your pup and his/her training needs. This will allow us to point you toward the program that’d be best suited for you and your dog.

Yes. You (and anyone in your family who wants to be involved) are integral to your dog getting trained. When you pick up your Pup from His/her stay we will an hour working with you and your pup. Then you will have one lesson at our facility and 1 to 3 off site lesson depending on then length of stay with us. We need you to practice 5-6 days a week, about 15-20 minutes a day for optimal results.
